Our Synclara Cough System, a cough assist device, helps clear mucus from your upper airways if you have difficulty coughing on your own.

 

Our Synclara Cough System mechanically produces coughs for you, to help clear mucus from your upper airways. And we've added features to our cough assist device, including Patient Synchrony and Positive Air Pressure (PAP) on Pause, that allows your doctor to customize your therapy and provide you comfort.

People often think of coughing as a nuisance. But it plays a vital role in keeping your upper airways clear, so your lungs can function properly, and you don’t develop dangerous infections.1

That’s why it’s so important to help your body simulate a cough if you have a condition that makes coughing difficult.

The SYNCLARA Cough System does just that.

It provides a therapy that simulates a cough using gentle, non-invasive mechanical suction. During a cough session, swift changes in air pressure rapidly mimic the body’s natural cough response to loosen and remove mucus from your airways, helping you breathe easy and reducing your risk of infection.

For patients with a weak, ineffective cough, cough simulation can be an important therapy.

At Baxter, we set out to make that therapy as effective and comfortable as possible. The Synclara Cough System is the result. The Synclara Cough System uses Mechanical Insufflation-Exsufflation (MIE) technology to clear secretions from the upper airways.

We’ve added features that enhance individualization of therapy and patient comfort, such as Patient Synchrony and Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) on Pause. These patient-centric features, plus the support service Baxter is known for, make the Synclara Cough System a complete cough assist solution.

Programmable, Adaptable Care

The Synclara Cough System uses a combination of Patient Synchrony and Positive Air Pressure (PAP) on Pause. During a therapy session, our Synclara Cough System applies positive insufflatory pressure to inflate airways and then rapidly shifts to negative exsufflatory pressure to simulate a cough. A simple touchscreen, online videos and a complete instruction manual makes programming a customized therapy session easy.

Between cough sessions, the system moves into a pause state and can be programmed to maintain a positive pressure flow to the patient. Other programmable features include:

  • Flutter: Pressure oscillation to assist in loosening secretions
  • Patient synchrony: Detects the patient’s inhale effort and activates the inhale stage
  • End with a sigh: Opens the patient’s airways after the last exhale of the therapy
